QUILTBLOCK INSPIRED WALL HANGINGS

Does it always have to be a picture on the wall that makes our apartment more comfortable and personal?

For a change, how about a wall hanging made of fabric - a wallquilt so to speak?

You can of course make all of these wallquilts yourself. In fact they are an ideal project to get a taste of quilting and to approach the topic of quilting carefully. They are rather small, don’t require a lot of fabrics and fast to make. I by myself learnt how to quilt by making wallquilts and even though I love white walls (probably as contrast to my creativity in my head) I always have a wallquilt hanging in my apartment. It gives the room a certain kind of “hygge” (a scandinavian word for coziness) that makes me feel home.

But what do you do when there is no time for a new sewing project and the white wall is calling for a new decoration? That made me think and I might have a solution to this!

I put my passion for quilts and my passion for modern minimalist design into a cooking pot and stired it vigorously. This resulted in “QUILTBLOCK INSPIRED WALLHANGINGS”. Basically a wallquilt that looks like a quilt, but isn’t one at all - you could also call them cheat wallquilts

Inspired by traditional and classic quiltblocks, I created 4 different designs in 4 colors.

The designs are available in my Spoonflower Shop as wall hangings or alternatively as tea towels. I think this is a perfect gift for yourself or for a quilting friend who likes minimalist, modern, unique and creative decoration.

The great thing about these wall hangings on Spoonflower is that they come with magnetic hangers. This means, you can simply replace the design with a self-sewn wallquilt or use it for hanging up a picture. Cool, right?

By the way, the wall hanging measures about 16 x 24 inches.
